This open plan kitchen and living room was inspired by the beloved Jens Risom Block Island Retreat. To keep costs down, we used Ikea cabinets and added custom ply fronts sprayed dark orange/red from the 60’s Formica palette. The open shelves and reclaimed wood planking are twists on the Risom original. An Akari paper lamp and locally sourced antique cherry cupboard, vintage dining table and 60s mosaic panel complete the look. The living room features an original stone fireplace. We added a wood-burning stove for increased efficiency. The Jetson chair was a local flea-market find.
